Identifying sources of air pollution and analyzing events of odor emissions using a unique model (patent protected), developed by Meteo-Tech
In many areas of the country air pollution events occur, that cause odor nuisances which can have a large impact on the quality of life for city and town residents.
The air quality department specializes in identifying sources of air pollution and odor events analysis. Meteo-Tech performs the above analyzes using a unique model (patent holder), which was developed by Meteo-Tech. The model calculations are based on measured meteorological data from a large number of meteorological stations. Results of the analysis are characterized by high accuracy and level of success of finding and pin pointing the sources of air pollution (that is at least 95%), without any need for gathering samples or traveling to the scene.
Meteo-Tech provides these services to industrial areas, regional councils, associations of towns and 
municipalities since 1997, and to the Ministry of Environment since 2011.
 
Operation of air pollutant dispersion models
The air quality department at Meteo-Tech has vast experience in analysis of pollutant dispersion in the atmosphere on a local scale. Meteo-Tech runs a number of regulatory models for analysis of pollutant dispersion in the atmosphere and deposition of particles. Meteo-Tech uses advanced models approved by The US Environment Protection Agency (US EPA), the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the Israeli Ministry of the Environment such as AERMOD, CALROAD, CALPUFF, and more. Using these models, Meteo-Tech performs research projects on emissions dispersion from industry, transport and others sources.
The dispersion models, which are employed by Meteo-Tech, enable our specialists to carry out analyses required by the regulatory and licensing authorities, which need detailed information regarding potential impact of existing and future activities on the environment.
 
Special Projects
The special projects performed by Meteo-Tech, include unique and complex research and consulting work, reflecting Meteo-Tech's highly diversified capabilities, which enable us to handle various environmental issues, as well as the efficient integration between the company's meteorological and air quality activities.
Here are a few examples:
  • The flagship project of the Air Quality department was the ‘Israel National Air Pollution Reduction Goals’ project, undertaken for the Ministry of the Environment.
  • "Israel's air resources management" - a large governmental project carried out by the Ministry of Environment, aimed at continuous prediction of air quality on a high geographic resolution.
  • Emissions inventory Dioxins and Furans in Israel 2005
  • Estimates of emissions of air pollution from air traffic and maritime activities in Israel
